Your public profile is your page in the Macaly Community. It lives at macaly.com/@username and shows details about you, along with the projects you’ve chosen to publish.
Open it with View profile in your profile menu.
Your username
To activate your profile, you first need to choose a username. Take the one Macaly suggests, or pick your own.
A username can be 3 to 30 characters long and use letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores. It has to start with a letter, and it can’t be made of numbers alone. Availability is shown as you type, and if the name you want is taken, Macaly suggests alternatives.
You can change your username once every 14 days. For 7 days after a change, your old address still leads to your profile, and nobody else can claim it.
What visitors see
Your profile is public. Anyone with the link can open it, whether or not they have a Macaly account.
Alongside whatever you fill in yourself, your profile shows the month you joined Macaly and when you were last active. Neither can be hidden.
Editing your profile
To edit your profile, click Edit profile on your own profile.
Your bio can be up to 500 characters. For links, you can fill in your website, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and GitHub. Links you leave empty are hidden. Click Choose style to pick how the icons look.
Change your profile picture and cover image with the camera buttons. Pick one of the presets or upload your own file. Profile pictures can be up to 2 MB and covers up to 5 MB, as JPG, PNG, or WebP.
Projects on your profile
The Projects section shows the projects you’ve published to the community gallery. See Showcase a project in the gallery.
