Baird's Guide is a made-up Glasgow coffee guide. Type your list and it becomes the headline; pick Job board and the same site shows its jobs.

New listings wait for your approval

A form on the site lets café owners add their place and employers post a job. Each entry is saved in your project's database and waits on your admin page. Nothing goes on the list until you approve it.

Questions about running a directory

Pick business directory, job board or something else, write what the list is of and where, and sign in. Macaly builds the list page, a page for each listing, the form for new entries and your admin page. You change any of it by talking to the chat.

No. For local businesses, you can ask the agent to load public places from Google Maps. It tells you the most credits the load can use and loads nothing until you say yes. After that, owners send in their own listings through the form on your site.

You do. Everything sent through the form is saved in your project's database as waiting. It shows on the site only after you approve it on your admin page, which only you can sign in to.

Yes. Connect your own Stripe account and ask for a payment on a featured spot or a job post. You can try the whole flow with test payments first. The money goes to your Stripe account, Macaly adds no fee and Stripe's fees apply.

Yes, on a paid plan. Ask for it in the chat and Macaly emails you each time someone sends in a listing. On any plan, every submission waits on your admin page.

Yes. Ask for logins with an email code, a password or Sign in with Google. Owners can then edit their own listing, and an association can keep its directory behind the login so only members see it.

Every listing has its own page and address, which gives search engines something to find. Getting found still takes time: Google often needs days or weeks to pick up a new site, and submitting the address in Google Search Console helps.

Cafés or shops in one city, makers, therapists, venues, the members of a club, jobs in one trade, podcasts or grants. A directory works for anything where every entry has the same few details.

You can build and publish a directory without paying. Sign in or create a free account, and the free plan publishes one site on a macaly.app address with the Macaly badge. Your own domain and the larger plans are paid.
